The Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL) is a central institution of the Max Planck Society dedicated to supporting researchers in the areas of information supply, publication services, and research data management. Based in Munich, the MPDL is an important partner for all 84 Max Planck Institutes worldwide.
The MPDL is committed to providing researchers with optimal access to scientific information and establishing a sustainable infrastructure for scientific information management. A central goal is to support the Open Access policy of the Max Planck Society to make scientific knowledge globally accessible.
The MPDL is strongly committed to sustainable practices in scientific information management. It promotes Open Access to improve access to scientific information and increase transparency in research. Additionally, the MPDL is working on innovative solutions such as the blockchain initiative bloxberg to provide decentralized and autonomous services for the international scientific community.
The MPDL works closely with the libraries of the Max Planck Institutes and other central IT service facilities to offer a comprehensive portfolio of services. It is also significantly involved in the nationwide DEAL contracts that ensure access to scientific literature for German research institutions.
The Max Planck Digital Library is thus a central point of contact for questions regarding scientific information management and makes a significant contribution to the competitiveness of the Max Planck Society in the international scientific community.
