Miteinander Leben e.V. is a non-profit association from Dettingen-Wallhausen, which was founded to support older citizens in everyday life and at the same time actively strengthen the local community.[3][4] The focus is on a solidarity-based cooperation between generations: people who need help are accompanied and supported by committed helpers from the village.
The association offers everyday support services such as help in the household, accompaniment for shopping or doctor's visits, smaller practical help around the house as well as time for conversations and social activities.[3][4] The aim is to enable older people to live as independently as possible in their familiar surroundings and at the same time prevent loneliness. In addition, the association organizes joint activities and meeting opportunities that strengthen social cohesion in the village and promote new contacts.[8]
The Mission of Miteinander Leben e.V. is to create a network of mutual support, in which neighborly help, appreciation and respect for old age are lived out in concrete terms.[3][4] The association sees itself as a link between senior citizens seeking help, volunteers and the local community. Central values are reliability, humanity, discretion and an appreciative interaction at eye level.
Sustainability is mainly shown in the social and structural sense: Through low-threshold help on site, the care in one's own living environment is strengthened, travel distances are reduced and professional care structures are usefully supplemented.[3][4] The promotion of civic engagement, in particular through the recruitment and support of volunteer helpers, contributes to building permanent, sustainable support networks in the village and securing the quality of life of older people in the long term.[7]
Memberships, donations and voluntary work enable the association to continuously develop its non-profit work and expand its services in line with demand.[7] This creates a lively cooperation in which help is not only organized, but understood as a community task.
