MUT Academy

The MUT Academy gGmbH is an organization dedicated to facilitating and supporting the transition of young people in Hamburg from school to vocational training. The main mission of the organization is to instill courage and self-confidence in participants to empower them on their individual life paths.

• Two-Year Program: The MUT Academy offers a comprehensive two-year program that takes place during the last two years of school. This program includes five-day MUT Camps, individual 1:1 coaching, team-building activities, and application training[2][3][5].
• MUT Camps: These multi-day camps provide support and guidance for young people and offer an intensive learning and experience environment.
• Professional Exam Preparation and Career Orientation: Young people receive support in professional exam preparation and career field orientation.
• Application Assistance and Resilience Building: Through efficient application training and MUT workshops, young people are helped to strengthen their resilience and apply successfully[1][2][3].

The MUT Academy places great importance on an educational approach based on "empathetic demanding and realistic optimism." This is ensured by a high staff-to-participant ratio, realized by well-trained volunteers (MUTivator:innen). These volunteers build trusting relationships and provide intensive support to young people[1][2].

• Success Rates: The MUT Academy aims for 80% of young people to leave school with a follow-up perspective. In the 2018/19 school year, a rate of 82% was achieved, and despite the challenges posed by the Corona pandemic in the 2019/20 school year, 70% of young people were able to find a perspective after school. In comparison, only 40% of school leavers in Hamburg find an apprenticeship[1].
