The MV-Zentrum für Onkologie und Hämatologie in Köln offers comprehensive diagnostics, consultation, therapy and long-term care for patients with blood disorders and cancers. Since its founding in 1997 on Sachsenring by Prof. Dr. S. Schmitz and Dr. H. T. Steinmetz, the goal has been to treat each patient individually and according to the latest state of medical knowledge.
The center covers the areas of oncology (cancer medicine), hematology (blood diseases) and hemostaseology (blood clotting). Oncology includes the prevention, diagnosis, therapy and aftercare of malignant diseases. Hematology deals with the diagnosis and therapy of blood diseases, blood formation, lymph nodes and the immune system. Hemostaseology focuses on the diagnosis and therapy of congenital and acquired disorders in the blood clotting system.
A special focus is on the holistic care of patients. The center offers additional services such as social counseling, psychosocial support, nutritional therapy and sports programs to support all areas of patients' lives.
The MV-Zentrum has its own study center and a close network of cooperation partners to incorporate the latest research results into the treatment. It is a partner in the national network for genomic medicine (NNGM) in the field of lung cancer and cooperates with university hospitals for advanced molecular pathological testing and personalized medicine. The center is involved in various organ cancer centers and is certified for lung cancer and colon cancer.
The team of doctors consists of specialists in internal medicine with a focus on hematology and oncology, who have additional qualifications in palliative medicine and blood transfusion medicine. They are constantly developing their skills and are certified by the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO).
The MV-Zentrum offers an online reception for inquiries about prescriptions, certificates, appointments and new patient introductions. A practice hotline is available for medical emergencies.
