The Neunkircher Verkehrs GmbH (NVG) is the sole integrated mobility service provider for the district town of Neunkirchen and the entire Neunkirchen district. As an established transport company in the Saarländischen Verkehrsverbund (SaarVV), NVG has been providing reliable public transport (ÖPNV) for over a century. With roots in the tram era – the first train rolled on September 13, 1907 – NVG has developed from the former Neunkirchen Straßenbahn AG into a modern bus company. After the tram ceased operations in 1978, it focused entirely on low-floor buses and continuously expanded its network.
NVG operates a dense bus network that fully covers the Neunkirchen district and extends into neighboring regions such as parts of the Saarpfalz district, the SaarbrĂĽcken regional association, St. Wendel and even Breitenbach in Rhineland-Palatinate. and are in daily use, transporting around and covering annually. The fleet comprises a total of over 100 buses that are flexible and barrier-free. The offer is complemented by innovative services such as free WiFi on the buses and a new day ticket for the city of Neunkirchen (from April 2026). Timetables, route network maps and sales outlets ensure maximum user-friendliness.
Maintenance is carried out exclusively by FahrzeugService Neunkirchen GmbH (FSN GmbH), a workshop company founded in 2005 by NVG and Saar-Pfalz-Bus GmbH. With the participation of private companies such as Hermann Zarth GmbH and Dieter Schmidt GmbH, FSN operates a Mercedes-Benz direct workshop. Here, 130 vehicles are maintained, 1,800 bus stops are looked after and tires are supplied to local transport companies in Saarland. 26 employees and 5 trainees guarantee the highest quality through ongoing training.
The core mission of NVG is: Transporting people and promoting public transport through the establishment and operation of scheduled services. As a regional player, the company connects people efficiently and sustainably – from everyday commutes to work to leisure trips. Values such as reliability, modernity and customer proximity are at the heart of everything: Since the change of legal form to GmbH in August 2012 and the sole responsibility in the district from January 2013, NVG has established itself as an indispensable pillar of Saarland mobility. With 210 employees, it relies on a strong team that continuously offers jobs.
Sustainability is central: A recently completed feasibility study on the conversion of the depot (March 2026) is examining the use of vehicles with alternative drives in order to reduce emissions and make public transport fit for the future. NVG is constantly adapting, for example through price adjustments and expanded services in the SaarVV (from January 2026). Modern low-floor buses and efficient maintenance minimize the ecological footprint. The company also manages lost property recycling transparently and supports the regional infrastructure.
NVG combines tradition with innovation – for a mobile Saarland. (2,347 characters)
