The Odenwald-Institut is a leading, non-profit recognized educational institution in Germany, founded in 1978 by Mary Anne and Karl Kübel as part of the Karl Kübel Stiftung für Kind und Familie.[1][2][5] With over 370 seminars, training courses and conferences annually, five own conference centers in the middle of the idyllic nature of the Odenwald and a bookstore, it offers a unique environment for learning and reflection - only an hour's drive from Heidelberg, Mannheim and Darmstadt.[1][3][5]
The institute conducts value-oriented seminars, training and further education on key topics such as career, communication, personal development, family, children and adolescents.[1][2][3] Every year, around 6,000 participants take part in more than 400 offers, led by over 220 highly qualified course instructors with internationally recognized concepts.[3]
Special formats include method modules, basic and advanced levels, supervisions, symposia, face-to-face and online events, and tailor-made offers for companies, organizations and groups.[3][5] Many courses are certified (e.g. by Weiterbildung Hessen), recognized as educational leave and eligible for funding.[1][3][5] As a cooperation partner of the state of Hessen (further training of teachers and school principals, education and upbringing plan) and the Kreis Bergstraße (youth education) as well as in the project "Aktion Starke Weggefährten" with the Dietmar Hopp Stiftung, it expands its commitment.[1][3]
The main mission is: The life of people should succeed - in career, society, partnership and family.[2] Educational offers promote personal growth and professional qualification equally, with a special focus on the family.[2][5] Werte are value-oriented, holistic and practice-proven: methods appeal to head, soul, mind and body, refer to real life situations and inspire to liveliness and creativity.[2] Innovation is at the center - the institute develops concepts further and creates spaces for encounter, reflection and mutual learning in a secluded, nature-connected atmosphere.[5]
Although explicit sustainability goals are not described in detail in the sources, the institute embodies sustainable education through its value-based, long-term approaches to personality and competence development.[2][5] The location in the beautiful Odenwald nature at 577 meters above sea level promotes ecological awareness and regeneration.[1][5] Cooperations such as with the Dietmar Hopp Stiftung on bereavement support underline social sustainability.[3] As part of the foundation, which operates other institutes in Germany and India, it contributes to global educational work.[1]
For almost 50 years, the Odenwald-Institut has been one of the top addresses for transformative education: it combines professional excellence with inner growth and creates lasting impact for individuals, families and organizations.[1][4] A team of around 35 employees ensures professional implementation.[7]
