The Ostfriesische Beschäftigungs- u. Wohnstätten GmbH (obw) is a non-profit organization headquartered in the largest East Frisian city, Emden. It was founded in 1964 to support people with and without disabilities in the areas of Housing, Work & Employment, Education & Qualification and Leisure and to promote their social participation[4][5].
The mission of obw is to enable people with and without disabilities to participate independently in all areas of life. This is pursued through the concept "middenmang", which means that people are not only "in the middle", but fully integrated and can develop[1][5].
The obw has been a recognized workshop for disabled people (WfbM) since 1975 and has established itself as a competitive company that is actively committed to social participation and inclusion[4].
