The Peter Fuld Stiftung is an established educational foundation with over 55 years of success, dedicated to supporting disadvantaged young people[1]. Founded in 1969 in Frankfurt am Main, the foundation consistently works on its core mission: equal opportunities in education, integration and overcoming disadvantage due to origin[1][2].
The foundation's work is based on a clear guiding principle: Education is the Future. The Peter Fuld Stiftung aims to give young people who face difficult starting conditions or are disadvantaged due to their origin the opportunity to fully realize their talents and potential[1][2].
The foundation is committed to a world without discrimination, prejudice and violence. It supports educational climbers and first-generation students, regardless of skin color, origin, gender or the financial status of their families, on their way to becoming full members of society[2].
The foundation operates on two main pillars - through operational activities and targeted funding:
Scholarship Programs: Currently, over 30 scholarship holders from a wide range of disciplines are supported[2][6]. The scholarship is aimed at pupils, students, trainees and doctoral candidates who are financially needy and have distinguished themselves through their previous achievements[4]. The financial support enables the recipients to concentrate on their studies and training without material worries[1].
Educational Projects: The foundation actively develops and supports educational projects that help young people with difficult starting conditions to confidently find their way into education[1]. These projects support young people in Germany and abroad in their education and training[1].
Non-material Support: In addition to material support, the foundation offers extensive non-material support through educational seminars[4][6]. These include areas such as personal development, stress management, career orientation, career building, anti-discrimination work and strengthening democracy[4]. The scholarship holders are trained to become qualified top specialists with leadership qualities[4].
The Peter Fuld Stiftung awards its scholarships according to transparent criteria: Applicants must not be older than 30 years, must be financially needy and disadvantaged due to their origin[4]. The scholarship is primarily awarded to people who do not receive other support benefits such as BAföG or the Deutschlandstipendium[4]. The foundation specifically supports people with a migration background or refugee experience[1].
The foundation is led by a dedicated board of directors, consisting of Borislav Ivanov as Chairman of the Board, Regine Rang as Deputy Chairwoman and Dr. Kenan Önen as Managing Director[2]. The Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors work closely together to achieve the foundation's goals.
The Peter Fuld Stiftung sees education as the foundation for a just future and access to life[3]. It pursues a holistic approach to overcoming social disadvantages in education and thus contributes to a society that takes equal opportunities and educational justice seriously[5].
Through its decades of work with pupils, students and trainees, the foundation has helped thousands of young people to successful professional careers and has thus made a substantial contribution to a more inclusive and just society[2]. The foundation is constantly working to support more young people on their way.
