The
The Poko-Institut has been a leading and independent provider of further education seminars and training courses for employee representatives in Germany for over 60 years. With a broad spectrum of practical further education courses, the institute is aimed at works councils, youth and trainee representatives, representatives of severely disabled employees, staff councils and economic committees. The aim of the seminars is to provide participants with sound specialist knowledge so that they can competently exercise their rights and effectively represent their colleagues. Poko places particular emphasis on imparting the skills to act responsibly in operational co-determination[2].
Founded in Munich in 1963 and based in MĂĽnster since 1965, the institute is owner-managed and believes in its independence from employers and trade unions. The range of services has been continuously expanded: from an initial few speakers, around 400 experts are now active nationwide and conduct almost 2,000 seminar days at around 70 seminar locations every year. This diversity ensures flexible and needs-based further training in a pleasant learning atmosphere, often in centrally located or nature-oriented conference hotels[1][2].
The mission of the Poko-Institut is to strengthen employee representatives in the best possible way, to professionalize their work and thus to promote social dialogue and democratic co-determination in companies. The institute also supports current social challenges relating to work-life balance, crisis management and the recruitment of new works council members - for example with free webinars to motivate untapped target groups to work on the works council[2].
In addition to professional qualifications, Poko also attaches great importance to social commitment and sustainability: the institute has been supporting Kindernothilfe projects for many years and has now provided over 81,000 euros in donations. With this, Poko is sending a clear signal for social responsibility and sustainable development[2].
The institute thus offers a combination of many years of experience, high levels of expertise, independence and social responsibility. These values enable tailor-made further training offers that strengthen employee representatives in their important role and at the same time contribute to social and sustainable goals. Through continuous adaptation to the changing requirements of the labor market and co-determination, the Poko-Institut remains an indispensable partner for professional employee representatives in Germany.
