Die Regionale Planungsgemeinschaft Uckermark-Barnim is responsible for spatial planning in the Uckermark and Barnim districts. This region is located in northeastern Brandenburg and borders Berlin as well as Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Poland.
The main services of the Regionalen Planungsgemeinschaft include the creation, updating and amendment of the regional plan. This plan takes into account various spatial interests of use, such as agricultural and forestry use, infrastructure, settlement construction, trade and industry. The aim is to avoid possible conflicts between these interests through economically, socially and ecologically balanced decisions.
The mission of the Regionalen Planungsgemeinschaft is to act as a moderator of development processes and to network regional actors. An important focus of the Regionalen Planungsgemeinschaft is the implementation of sustainable developments. This also includes efforts to create an H2 hydrogen region, which deals with the latest developments and projects related to hydrogen. In addition, initiatives for the energy transition are promoted at the municipal level. The Regionale Planungsgemeinschaft Uckermark-Barnim is also committed to digital accessibility and continuously improves the accessibility of its digital platforms for people with disabilities.
The Regionale Planungsgemeinschaft plays a central role in regional development by balancing economic, social and ecological concerns. Through the approval of the Integrierter Regionalplan Uckermark-Barnim, more than 2000 suggestions from citizens and stakeholders were taken into account to ensure that legal certainty and plannability are guaranteed. The organization thus operates an integrative and transparent planning policy that focuses on the interests of the region and its residents.
