The focus is on supporting people in need, regardless of their origin or situation. The district association strives to ensure transparency in the use of its funds and has joined the Transparent Civil Society initiative.
The district association is committed to environmental protection and sustainability. It has been awarded as a Hamburg Ökoprofit company and is an environmental partner of the Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Measures include the purchase of electricity from regenerative energy sources.
The district association employs approximately 1,100 permanent employees and is supported by approximately 400 volunteers. It values family-conscious personnel policies and offers flexible working hours as well as support in reconciling work and family life. The district association has received the Hamburg Family Seal and the certificate for the "audit berufundfamilie".
