SANCTA MARIA is a curative educationally integrative network of child and youth welfare in Berlin, which is dedicated to the holistic support, care and education of children and adolescents with and without disabilities.[1][2] As a non-profit organization under the sponsorship of the Hedwig Sisters since 1948, SANCTA MARIA offers comprehensive support for young people who are significantly prevented from normal participation in the life of their environment and whose personality development is at risk.[1][2]
SANCTA MARIA has with a total of over 117 inpatient places for children and adolescents.[2][5] The facility offers a wide range of services:
Based on a Christian view of humanity and the world, SANCTA MARIA pursues the goal of holistically supporting young people and supporting them in their efforts to shape their lives largely independently and on their own responsibility.[1][5] The work of the facility is characterized by support, education, upbringing and care with a focus on inclusion and integration of children with and without disabilities.[1]
In 2021, the organization was converted from an association into the SANCTA MARIA - Institut der hl. Hedwig gGmbH and applies the employment contract guidelines of the German Caritas Association.[1] As a corporate member of the Caritas Association for the Archdiocese of Berlin, SANCTA MARIA is part of a strong network of free welfare organizations.[1] The management is in the hands of experts with psychological and socio-pedagogical backgrounds who promote multi-professional cooperation.[1][2]
Founded in 1948 by the Hedwig Sisters, SANCTA MARIA has continuously developed.[1] From a small children's home with a private special school (1956), the facility grew into a complex network with several locations, therapeutic departments and specialized residential groups.[2] The latest developments show a modern, dynamic field of work: From the opening of educational residential groups to the implementation of outpatient assistance, SANCTA MARIA is continuously expanding its range of services to meet the diverse needs of vulnerable children and adolescents.[1][2]
