Schwäbische Tafel Stuttgart e.V.

The Schwäbische Tafel Stuttgart e.V. is a social actor in the urban society of Stuttgart, committed to combating poverty and protecting the environment and climate. The association was founded with the aim of distributing donated food to people in need and thus avoiding food waste.

• Lebensmittelverteilung: The Tafel collects food that would otherwise be wasted and offers it in its stores. These are designed so that customers can choose what they want to buy themselves, rather than being recipients of charity.
• Ladennetzwerk: The Tafel currently operates four stores in the Stuttgart region, including in Bad Cannstatt, Möhringen, Fellbach and Stuttgart-Mitte.
• Logistik- und Verwaltungszentrum: In addition to the stores, the Tafel maintains its own center for organizing and storing donated goods.

The main mission of the Schwäbische Tafel is to reduce food waste while providing people in social emergencies with access to affordable food. This not only strengthens the dignity of customers, but also social integration and sustainability in society.

Due to rising food prices and global crises, the demand for the Tafel's services has increased significantly. Since the beginning of the Ukraine war, the number of customers has increased by almost 100 percent, which underlines the urgent need for such facilities[5].
