The house comprises four stationary living areas – Arnica, Betula, Calendula and Aja’s Gartenhaus –, in which people in need of care are lovingly cared for. Haus Aja stands for a democratic, open and diverse society in which all people participate equally and receive protection. As part of the Nikodemus Werk e.V. – Association for Anthroposophical Age Culture – and the Paritätischen Wohlfahrtsverbands Hessen e.V., it emphasizes socio-pedagogical principles. It creates spaces for encounter, inclusion and cultural participation, open to neighbors and visitors.[1][2][5]
The anthroposophical orientation shapes all areas: It combines care, therapy and everyday life in a holistic approach that strengthens people in their individuality. Events in the neighboring Rudolf Steiner Haus invite active participation.[1]
A rich cultural program makes the house a meeting place: Courses, working groups, lectures and festivals stimulate, keep fit and promote entertainment and variety. They serve for encounter and personal development, from fitness offers to artistic impulses.[8] The house is a place of joie de vivre in old age, which combines tradition and modernity – for example through modern equipment in the rooms with city views and air conditioning.[6]
Sustainability is at the center: The certified organic shop and the bistro prioritize organic products and regional ingredients, which promotes healthy, environmentally conscious living. The electric charging stations underline the green approach. In the anthroposophical tradition, the house seamlessly integrates ecological values into care and hospitality, without mentioning explicit initiatives – a shining example of responsible age culture.[1][4]
