The Stadtwerke Burglengenfeld are a legally and economically independent municipal company in the legal form of an institution under public law (AdöR) based in Burglengenfeld. Founded in 1998, they serve as the 100 percent shareholder of Bulmare GmbH and take on central tasks of the city in the spatial area of Burglengenfeld.[1][3][7]
The Stadtwerke fulfill diverse public infrastructure tasks that directly improve the daily lives of citizens:
These services make the Stadtwerke an indispensable backbone of the local infrastructure.[5]
The Management Board, appointed by the Administrative Board for a maximum of five years, is currently headed by Johannes Ortner, who is also Managing Director of Bulmare GmbH and Stadtbau GmbH. The Administrative Board, as the central decision-making body, makes fundamental decisions; the chairman is Mayor Thomas Gesche, supported by city councilors such as Bernhard Krebs or Andreas Beer.[1][6]
The mission of the Stadtwerke is to ensure a reliable, future-oriented supply and maintenance of the urban infrastructure. They act in the public interest, promote quality of life and economic development - for example, by connecting surrounding communities to the wastewater treatment plant with investments of over six million euros.[1][4] Core values are reliability, efficiency and customer proximity, as demonstrated by the operation of a call-back service and information for builders.[9]
Sustainability is at the center: The wastewater treatment plant ensures modern wastewater treatment and purification of water bodies for future generations. The focus on renewable energies and environmentally friendly technologies underscores the contribution to climate protection. Investments such as the wastewater treatment plant expansion create the basis for positive urban development and ecological progress.[2][3][4]
With a share capital of €25,564.59 (formerly DM 50,000), the Stadtwerke operate economically soundly and continuously invest in modernization - as confirmed in the statutes of 2025.[3] They are the engine for a livable, sustainable city of Burglengenfeld.
