The Ursulinen-Stiftung is a trust foundation under the sponsorship of the Bischof-Arbeo-Stiftung, which is dedicated to promoting church education, upbringing and youth work in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising[2]. Since its founding on November 10, 2016, the foundation has pursued the goal of preserving and bringing to life the pedagogical and spiritual heritage of Saint Angela Merici for future generations[2].
The focus of the foundation's work is the personal development of young girls and women[2]. Fully committed to the spiritual legacy of Saint Angela Merici, the Ursulinen-Stiftung pursues the goal of not only providing young people with a school education, but also making them fit for life and responsible for society[2]. The extremely modern basic concern of the Ursuline tradition lies in the appreciation of the individuality of each girl and in a holistic personal development[7].
The foundation is based on the principles of Saint Angela Merici, who as early as 1535 realized a revolutionary concept of women's education - a form of independence and lived spirituality that was completely new at the time[7].
The Ursulinen-Stiftung concentrates its work on three Archdiocesan schools in the Munich and Freising region[4]:
The use of funds focuses in particular on areas in which the spiritual spirit of the Ursuline community is noticeable beyond everyday school life[5]. This includes in particular grants for class trips and orientation days as well as measures for social integration[5].

The foundation realizes diverse projects and programs[8]:
The foundation preserves the legacy of Saint Angela Merici, who was born around 1470/1475 and dedicated herself to charitable care following the example of Saint Francis[7]. In 1535, Angela Merici founded the Compagnia di Sant' Orsola, the Society of Saint Ursula, and wrote the first rule for a women's community written by a woman[7]. Her revolutionary approach enabled women to live a life of independence and spirituality without the constraints that were common at the time - an idea that continues to have an impact in Ursuline schools to this day[7].
The foundation finances its work through private funding and donations[3]. Interested supporters can support the foundation through one-off or regular donations as well as through endowments and set individual priorities[3].
The Ursulinen-Stiftung is a church educational foundation with historical roots and modern aspirations. It combines the pedagogical heritage of one of the most important women's movements in church history with contemporary challenges and opportunities. With its commitment to holistic personal development, social justice and spiritual development, the foundation helps to empower young women to lead fulfilling lives and take responsibility in society.
