Lebenshilfe Stuttgart e.V. is a non-profit association that has been supporting people with disabilities and their families for over 60 years.[1] The company was founded on May 21, 1960 by parents who wanted to give their children with disabilities new perspectives.[1] Today, Lebenshilfe Stuttgart is established as a leading social service provider in the region and has developed from humble beginnings into a modern social enterprise with a comprehensive portfolio.[1]
The central mission of Lebenshilfe Stuttgart is to help people with disabilities lead self-determined lives and to promote their social participation.[1] The company sees itself as a reliable partner for people with disabilities and their families, and thus assumes social responsibility.[1] Equality, diversity and social participation are central values that are lived daily in the work.[4]
Lebenshilfe Stuttgart offers a wide range of support services:
Workshops and jobs The company operates specialized workshops at several locations (Löwentor and Vaihingen), where approximately 400 people with disabilities work.[2] The workshops offer comprehensive services in various areas:[2]
Living and care services In addition to the workshops, Lebenshilfe Stuttgart also operates shared apartments and residential facilities that enable people with disabilities to live self-determined lives in a supportive environment.[1]
Support services in everyday life The company offers recognized support services, some of which can be financed through long-term care insurance.[4] This includes various services for care and support.
The employees of the workshops are motivated and competently trained in their fields.[5] The specialist staff guides the employees in all work steps and ensures high quality standards.[5] The company works carefully, on schedule and reliably - both for customer orders and for the care of people with disabilities.[5]
Lebenshilfe Stuttgart e.V. is part of a larger organizational structure as a local association: It belongs to both the state association Baden-Württemberg of Lebenshilfe and the nationwide Bundesvereinigung Lebenshilfe e.V.[1] This enables the association to exert influence at various political levels and to advance its goals.
Two independent non-profit GmbHs operate under the umbrella of Lebenshilfe Stuttgart: Stuttgarter Wohnstätten and Stuttgarter Werkstätten.[2] In total, the company employs approximately 600 people in Germany, including approximately 180 people in instruction, care and administration.[2]
Beyond its original mission, Lebenshilfe Stuttgart also acts as a partner for companies to support them in fulfilling their social responsibility.[1] The company's employees are characterized by a high level of environmental and social awareness and are committed to a more inclusive society every day.[6]
