Tatort Zukunft

Tatort Zukunft e.V., founded in 2018 at the Free University of Berlin, advocates for a just, humane, and effective approach to crime. The organization is based on the principle that a society committed to human rights has a special responsibility to shape the place of deprivation of liberty humanely and to reflect critically on itself[2].

• Educational and Counseling Services: Tatort Zukunft e.V. creates a link between the university and the prison to bring students and prisoners together. This enables the building of bridges, the dismantling of prejudices, and the development of new teaching and learning cultures[2].
• Legal Counseling: The organization offers free and independent legal counseling in the field of prison law, conducted by law students with the voluntary support of experienced lawyers. This counseling is aimed at prisoners, their relatives, and other affected groups[3].
• Specific Counseling Services: There are specific counseling services for refugees, LSBTI* individuals with a migration background, women who have committed crimes, youth, and individuals with drug and addiction problems. Additionally, counseling on topics such as release from custody, debts, housing, and HIV prevention is offered[3].

• Credible Messenger Project: This project, which will continue from 2024, is part of the "Society of Ideas - Competition for Social Innovations" of the BMBF and aims to establish a sustainable approach in offender assistance in Germany. The project allows for in-depth insights into the life stories and perspectives of those involved and promotes exchange among the participants[2].
• Reintegration and Human Rights: Through the projects and initiatives of Tatort Zukunft e.V., the reintegration of prisoners is promoted, and it is ensured that their human rights are respected in everyday prison life. This is achieved through education, counseling, and the establishment of sustainable connections among the participants[2][3].
