Verband Region Stuttgart – Körperschaft des öffentlichen Rechts

The Verband Region Stuttgart is the political representation of the Stuttgart Region, one of the most dynamic and innovative economic areas in Europe. It includes the districts of Böblingen, Esslingen, Göppingen, Ludwigsburg and Rems-Murr as well as the state capital Stuttgart. Every five years, citizens elect the delegates of the Regional Assembly, the regional parliament, as part of the regional elections.

The Verband Region Stuttgart works on a forward-looking and sustainable development of the region. The goal is to secure diversity, high quality of life, mobility and economic strength in the long term. The core tasks include regional planning, public transport (ÖPNV), regional traffic management, landscape planning as well as business and tourism promotion. The association sets the frequency for the S-Bahn network, orders S-Bahn services and initiates improvements such as night services and WLAN in the trains.

As part of the European Metropolitan Region Stuttgart (EMRS), the association is committed to the interests of the region at the federal level and improves competitiveness through concrete projects. The focus is on topics such as mobility, transformation of the economy and energy.

The Verband Region Stuttgart is actively committed to climate protection and promotes projects to adapt to climate change. These include initiatives to promote renewable energies, reduce emissions and adapt infrastructure to the consequences of climate change. Another important goal is the creation of affordable housing in the region to meet the needs of the population.

The Verband Region Stuttgart sees itself as a source of inspiration and contact for central future issues of the region. It participates successfully in national and international competitions and projects and seeks innovative answers to questions of mobility, land use and demographic development.
