VITREA is the third-largest rehabilitation provider in Europe and a leading healthcare group in the German-speaking region. Founded in 2024 and headquartered in Vienna with its German headquarters in Damp, the company operates over 70 inpatient and outpatient facilities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.[1][2][3][4][5]
VITREA offers a comprehensive range of healthcare services, with Rehabilitation as a central focus. The group covers 33 Rehabilitationsindikationen – from orthopedics and neurology to cardiology and oncology, as well as psychosomatic and psychosocial care.[2][3] In Germany, the offering includes over 50 facilities, including:
Around 200,000 Patient:innen are cared for annually, supported by approximately 14,000 Mitarbeiter:innen across Europe – around 8,800 of whom are in Germany.[1][2][3][4][5] This diversity enables tailor-made paths to greater quality of life and self-determination.[4]
Under the motto „Stärker als gestern“, VITREA pursues a clear goal: to make health effective and human.[1][2] Behind every diagnosis is a person – medical Fachkompetenz is combined with Empathie, Engagement and menschlicher Nähe.[1][4] Values such as Patientensicherheit, Qualität and Vertrauen are at the heart of everything. Leadership is decentralized: decisions are made close to the patient, based on clear standards, short distances and close cooperation across national borders.[1][4]
VITREA invests in Ausbildung, Forschung and moderne Therapiekonzepte, promotes an appreciative corporate culture and creates attractive jobs. Only strengthened teams can optimally strengthen Patient:innen.[4][5]
VITREA emerged from the merger of the rehabilitation division of the VAMED Care Gruppe and the Paracelsus Rehabilitationskliniken. In October 2024, the private equity investor PAI Partners (majority owner) acquired the international rehabilitation division of Fresenius SE and VAMED, supplemented in 2025 by nine Paracelsus facilities in Germany.[2][3][7] VITREA is growing from proven experience: CEO Dr. Klaus Schuster emphasizes the pooling of expertise from three countries in order to consolidate its leading position in the DACH region and make rehabilitation more individual.[2][3][7]
Although specific sustainability reports are not detailed in the sources, VITREA's attitude reflects a long-term responsibility: Starke Wurzeln für eine stärkere Zukunft.[1] By investing in quality standards, research and regional roots (from the Rhineland to Saxony, the North Sea to the Alps), the company contributes to sustainable healthcare.[1][4] The decentralized structure and focus on prevention as well as digital solutions such as Tele-Reha minimize resource consumption and promote efficient, patient-centered processes.[6] VITREA strives for continuous growth in order to secure its leading role in European rehabilitation.[2][7]
VITREA combines Vielfalt und Einheit: Over 70 facilities form a strong network that gets people moving – professionally innovative, humanly close. As part of the European elite, VITREA sets standards for rehabilitation and health.[1][2][4]
