The Kinderversorgungsnetz Berlin is a neutral online portal that comprehensively supports families with chronically ill, care-dependent, or care-intensive children, adolescents, and young adults up to 27 years of age. Launched in October 2020 and initiated by the MenschenKind specialist center in cooperation with key players in children's care, it bundles relevant information on contact points, services, and support offers in Berlin.[1][2][7]
The portal serves as a central point of contact and offers:
Of particular note is the integration of the Versorgungskoordination VK KiJu, which has been running as a model project since 2018. It provides individual support to families, ensures needs-based medical and nursing care, and promotes participation in the home environment.[4][6]
The core mission of the network is to promote equal participation of affected families in all areas of life – whether professional, private, or leisure. It addresses the immense burden caused by chronic illnesses or disabilities: According to the KiGGS study, 10 PERCENT of all children and adolescents in Germany have an increased need for care.[1][2][8] Values such as neutrality, accessibility, and networking are at the center to reduce organizational effort and make life easier for families. Berlin Senator for Health Dilek Kalayci emphasized: "Finding suitable help is extremely important."[2]
The network pursues long-term goals for system improvement: It uncovers gaps in the care system, evaluates them scientifically, and makes them politically visible – for example, through cooperation with youth welfare offices and the Senate Department for Health, Care and Equality.[1][4] Funded by the State of Berlin, it aims at sustainable structures that increase the subjective quality of life of entire families and optimize medical-therapeutic care. Through continuous development (e.g. via GOLDLAND MEDIA and BAR PACIFICO), the portal remains up-to-date and user-friendly.[5][9]
In a city like Berlin, where the need is high, the Kinderversorgungsnetz creates transparency in the complex support system. It relieves families emotionally and practically by paving the way for good care and promoting networking. Whether it's arranging care and work or searching for childcare options – those affected will find quick orientation and support here.[2][3]
The portal underlines Berlin's commitment to inclusive childcare and is a milestone for affected families. It invites you to actively use and participate in order to strengthen participation for all.[1][10]
