The Wasser- und Abwasserverband Osterholz (WAV Osterholz) ensures the safe drinking water supply and reliable wastewater disposal in the Osterholz district. As a municipal contact, the association takes on central tasks of public services – from extraction and treatment to transport, storage, and disposal related to water and wastewater.[1][10]
The association operates the drinking water supply via five waterworks and a drinking water pipeline network of more than 1,100 kilometers. The Samtgemeinde Hambergen, as well as the municipalities of Schwanewede, Ritterhude, Worpswede, Grasberg, and Lilienthal, and the city of Osterholz-Scharmbeck are supplied, among others; individual areas are additionally connected via the Osterholzer Stadtwerke.[3] This way, WAV Osterholz provides a comprehensive infrastructure for households, businesses, and public institutions in the district.[1][3]
The focus is on the claim to ensure a reliable, regional, and responsible water supply. This also includes a 24-hour emergency service that reacts quickly to technical disruptions and supports supply security.[1][6] The association also offers services related to house connections, registrations and de-registrations, and other water supply concerns.[5][8][9]
WAV Osterholz clearly values the careful use of drinking water. In its recommendations for the use of drinking water for gardens and pools, the association advises paying attention to conscious consumption, especially on hot days, and preferably carrying out water-intensive uses during times of lower demand.[6] This points to a self-image that combines supply security with resource conservation.[6][7]
The topic of sustainability and awareness of water as a basis for life also plays a role. On World Water Day, the association, together with other Osterholz water suppliers, emphasized the importance of water and the necessity of responsible handling of this resource.[7] Overall, WAV Osterholz positions itself as a regionally rooted supplier that combines technical competence, reliability, and sustainable water awareness.[1][7][10]
