The Water Integrity Network (WIN) is a global, open network of organizations and individuals committed to integrity and good governance in the water and sanitation sector. WIN's main mission is to promote the human rights to water and sanitation, improve sector performance, and ensure the sustainable management of water resources. WIN is based on the core principles of transparency, accountability, participation, and anti-corruption (TAPA)[2][4].
WIN offers a variety of tools and resources to promote integrity in the water sector:
WIN works closely with international organizations and governments to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 6 (Clean Water Access and Sanitation), SDG 6.5 (Integrated Water Resources Management), and SDG 13.1 (Climate Resilience and Adaptation)[3].
WIN is led by a small but dedicated international team in Berlin and Nairobi and is funded through grants from the governments of Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Switzerland. The organization is part of a broad network that also includes leading knowledge organizations and networks in the water sector[3][5].
Through its work, WIN advocates for the use of water resources and services where they are most needed and for the protection of the rights of the most disadvantaged populations to clean water and adequate sanitation.
