Wehnerwerke

The Herbert-Wehner-Bildungswerk e.V., based in Dresden, is a state-funded association that has been dedicated to political adult education since 1992. Named after the social democratic politician Herbert Wehner, the educational institution is independent of political parties but is close to social democracy.

The main goal of the Herbert-Wehner-Bildungswerk is to promote an open, free, and democratic society. It encourages and empowers citizens to actively participate in democracy. The work of the educational institution focuses on strengthening democratic understanding and promoting democratic participation in society.

• Seminars and Further Education: The educational institution offers a variety of seminars and further education in the areas of moderation, rhetoric, graphic recording, public relations, social media, communication and negotiation training, as well as conflict resolution. These offerings are available both on-site at the Herbert-Wehner-Haus in Dresden and in hybrid or online formats.
• Educational and Memorial Site Trips: The educational trips and memorial site visits aim to illuminate historical contexts and shed light on current developments. Special emphasis is placed on visiting memorial sites, such as the Ravensbrück Memorial, to make the past comprehensible and to underscore the importance of a culture of remembrance.
• Events and Workshops: The educational institution regularly organizes discussion events, readings, film nights, and workshops on current topics, including dealing with conspiracy ideologies.

The Herbert-Wehner-Bildungswerk operates throughout Saxony and beyond its borders. It offers its services to a broad public, including citizens, businesses, organizations, and institutions. The educational offerings are designed to reach and empower people of all ages and backgrounds to actively participate in democracy.

The team of the Herbert-Wehner-Bildungswerk consists of experienced educators, moderators, and subject matter experts who are committed to political education and the promotion of democracy. The Friends' Circle of the Herbert-Wehner-Bildungswerk, established in 1997, supports the work of the educational institution and has over 500 members across Germany.
