The WLL (Westfälisch-Lippischer Landwirtschaftlicher Verband) is an organization that has been active for over seven decades and is dedicated to preserving and improving a rural area worth living in.[1] The association focuses on offering young people in rural areas prospects and opportunities for shaping their lives in order to secure the attractiveness and sustainability of rural areas.
The WLL offers a variety of services and projects tailored to the needs of the rural population:[1]
The core mission of the WLL is to act as a strong advocate for the rural areas of Westfalen and Lippe.[1] The association actively promotes cohesion and community spirit by supporting local initiatives and representing the voice of the rural population in society and politics.
The WLL works specifically in several areas:[2][3]
Youth policy: The association conducts discussion and information events, acts as a preparatory body for national working groups and develops position papers on youth policy issues. This fulfills an important bridging function between local members and federal politics.[2]
Public relations and communication: The WLL organizes internal and external association communication in order to make its concerns publicly effective. This includes press work, member recruitment and the continuous maintenance of its communication channels.[3]
The association functions in a decentralized manner through a network of local groups that independently implement local projects. This makes it possible to respond to the specific needs and circumstances on site while at the same time being part of an overarching movement. This structure promotes both local initiative and solidarity in rural areas.
The WLL embodies the self-image of a modern, grassroots-democratic organization that sees rural regions not only as economic areas, but as livable living spaces with their own cultural and social value. Through its diverse activities, the WLL contributes to strengthening community, imparting practical knowledge and political participation.
