Its namesake, Johann Hinrich Wichern, was a pioneer of the Christian-social movement and founder of the Diakonie. These values are reflected in the company's social commitment, which is also evident in its support for people with disabilities or in challenging life situations.
The WICHERN Baugesellschaft continuously invests in maintaining and expanding its housing stock. It attaches great importance to sustainability. Through energetic modernizations, energy-efficient new buildings and the switch to regenerative energies, the company makes an important contribution to climate protection. Its subsidiary, Wichern Betreuungsgesellschaft, specializes in the management of real estate and residential complexes for third parties, especially for foundations. It offers a comprehensive range of services, from lease management to the implementation of maintenance and modernization measures. The Wichern Betreuungsgesellschaft manages, among other things, the Senator Erich Soltow-Stiftung, which provides older people in need with affordable housing, and the von Nyegaard-Stiftung, which offers older, single women with low incomes a home. The Betty-Stift in Othmarschen has also been part of the management portfolio since July 2023.
