The WBK Wir bewegen Kids gGmbH promotes "Hamburg bewegt Kids" to encourage the movement of children in Hamburg. Through dedicated Kids-Coaches and District Managers, Kitas and schools are supported to convey health, social skills, and joy in sports.
"Hamburg Moves Kids" is an initiative of the WBK Wir bewegen Kids gemeinnützige GmbH, which focuses on promoting children in Hamburg through sports and movement-oriented activities. The team consists of specially trained Kids Coaches who are present in daycare centers and elementary schools, instilling joy in physical activity among children. These coaches train the coordinative-cognitive versatility of the children and foster a lasting enthusiasm for movement and sports that extends into adulthood.
In addition, District Managers are active, networking the initiative in the neighborhoods by collaborating with local clubs, other initiatives, and community actors. This strengthens existing structures and creates new access opportunities for children to movement and activity[1].
The main mission of "Hamburg Moves Kids" is to promote the health and personal development of children. The initiative is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations and aims for sustainable impact.
"Hamburg Moves Kids" is committed to sustainable change in the lives of children. The initiative is evaluated through the impact ladder of Phineo gAG to ensure that the work has concrete and sustainable effects for the target groups and society.
"Hamburg Moves Kids" is currently active in over 21 daycare centers and elementary schools in Hamburg, reaching over 1,000 children weekly. The initiative started in September 2021 in the Farmsen-Berne district and is now also active in Billstedt and Jenfeld. Through donations and support from individuals, foundations, and companies, the initiative can be further expanded to reach even more children[1][2][3].
