Wogeno

WOGENO München eG, founded in 1993, is a cooperative aimed at providing its members with housing while simultaneously promoting social, ecological, and community values. From the initial 11 founding members and 3 properties, the cooperative has developed into a successful organization with over 500 apartments.

• Housing: WOGENO offers its members affordable and high-quality apartments, including old buildings and new constructions in energy-efficient building styles such as low-energy houses and passive houses[1][3].
• Mobility Concepts: In cooperation with Stattauto München and other partners, WOGENO provides its members with car sharing, bike sharing, e-bikes, e-cargo bikes, and e-scooters to promote environmentally friendly mobility[2].
• Community Meeting Points: The cooperative invests in community meeting points and their organization, such as the Danklsalon and the DomagkKasino, to strengthen social cohesion[1].
• Resource Sharing: WOGENO promotes resource sharing through its own booking platform to facilitate exchange and networking within the community[3].

The main mission of WOGENO is to provide a solidarity-based alternative to social isolation, the power structures of large real estate companies, excessive rents, and segregation. The cooperative advocates for protection against speculation and the preservation of neighborhoods. It promotes self-management, social cohesion, and ecological sustainability[1].

• Ecological Construction: WOGENO focuses on energy-efficient construction methods, such as combined heat and power plants, solar energy, and the avoidance of parking spaces through integrated mobility stations. This leads to significant cost savings and a reduction in the CO2 footprint[1][2].
• Mobility: By integrating car and bike sharing offers as well as alternative vehicles like e-bikes and e-cargo bikes, the need for private cars is reduced and environmental impact is minimized[2].
