The Zentrum für Schulqualität und Lehrerbildung (ZSL) is a state authority in Baden-Württemberg that focuses on improving school quality and teacher education. It was founded on March 1, 2019, and took over tasks from several dissolved institutes[1].
The main mission of the ZSL is to support schools and teachers in their educational and pedagogical tasks and to continuously improve the quality of teaching. The ZSL places value on connecting scientific findings with practical relevance and a culture of dialogue[4].
The ZSL supports initiatives for Education for Sustainable Development (BNE). It promotes the BNE school network, which helps schools engage with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and implement sustainable practices[2]. Additionally, the ZSL operates networks of Future Schools, which promote innovative learning methods and future-oriented education[3].
The ZSL has six regional offices in Mannheim, Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, Schwäbisch Gmünd, Freiburg, and Tübingen, providing regional support[1]. It works closely with other educational institutions and partners to strengthen the quality of education in Baden-Württemberg.
