The Zweckverband Komplexsanierung mittlerer Süden Zossen (ZV-KMS) is the central supply facility for drinking water and wastewater in the region south of Berlin. As a public-law corporation, it reliably supplies the municipalities of Am Mellensee and Rangsdorf as well as the city of Zossen (exclusively Nunsdorf and Schöneiche) with high-quality drinking water and efficient wastewater disposal.[4][7]
Through this complex renovation and modernization of the water supply systems, the ZV-KMS makes a significant contribution to regional infrastructure development. The term "Komplexsanierung" (complex renovation) underlines the comprehensive approach: from the renewal of old pipes to the expansion of the network for growing settlements.[4]
The main mission of the ZV-KMS is: To ensure a reliable, sustainable and customer-oriented water supply for the member municipalities. Core values are responsibility, quality and regionality. As a special-purpose association founded by local communities, it works closely with citizens to optimally meet local needs. Transparency is demonstrated in regular news and archives on projects as well as statutory documents that disclose all processes.[4][6][8][9]
Sustainability is at the heart of our actions: The association prioritizes resource-saving technologies, such as energy-efficient pumps and leakage-minimizing systems, to reduce drinking water losses. Initiatives for wastewater treatment aim to prevent nutrient inputs into water bodies, which strengthens the regional ecology. In the long term, the ZV-KMS invests in renovation projects that comply with EU and national environmental standards, such as the renewal of old canals and the promotion of rainwater use. These measures not only ensure security of supply, but also contribute to climate protection by reducing CO₂ emissions.[4][5][7]
In a time of growing population and climate change, the ZV-KMS is an indispensable partner for sustainable urban development. With a focus on innovation and citizen proximity, the association is positioning itself as a role model for municipal special-purpose associations. Current projects include network expansion and digitization to make the supply fit for the future.[4][6]
The ZV-KMS combines tradition with modernity - for clear water, clean waters and a region worth living in.
