IP Counsel. Full Time. This is an exciting time to join Oxford PV as we continue to build on our foundations as a spin-out from the University of Oxford and scale the commercialisation of our groundbreaking technology in the renewable energy sector. To support this evolution, we are looking for an experienced IP Counsel to join our growing team.
About the Role
As our IP Counsel, you will be instrumental in protecting and leveraging Oxford PV’s intellectual property portfolio. You will work closely with our R&D, engineering, and commercial teams to identify, secure, and enforce IP rights, ensuring our competitive advantage in the rapidly evolving solar energy market.
Responsibilities
Manage and develop Oxford PV’s patent portfolio, including drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications globally.
Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses and provide strategic advice on IP risks and opportunities.
Support IP due diligence for potential partnerships, investments, and acquisitions.
Advise on IP-related agreements, including NDAs, collaboration agreements, and licensing agreements.
Assist in the enforcement of Oxford PV’s IP rights and defence against third-party claims.
Stay abreast of IP law developments relevant to the solar energy and materials science sectors.
Collaborate with external patent attorneys and legal counsel as needed.
Develop and deliver IP training to internal teams.
Requirements
Qualified patent attorney or solicitor with a strong background in IP law, preferably with experience in the technology or renewable energy sectors.
Significant experience in patent drafting, prosecution, and portfolio management.
Proven ability to conduct freedom-to-operate analyses and provide strategic IP advice.
Experience with IP-related agreements and commercial transactions.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
A degree in a relevant scientific or engineering discipline (e.g., Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering) is highly desirable.
