Technology and Digital Fluency Coach in Secondary School

Position Overview

The Technology and Digital Fluency Coach is a leadership position responsible for supporting and

implementing key aspects of technology, digital learning, and information systems across the

school, with a particular focus on the middle and high school divi sions. This role ensures that

technology effectively supports and enhances teaching, learning, and operations in line with the

school’s strategic plan.

The Technology and Digital Fluency Coach serves as the Secondary School’s instructional coach

working collaboratively with administrators, teachers, staff, students, and parents to cultivate a

reliable, secure, future -focused, and ethically adept digital e nvironment. A coach provides

instructional support and professional development (e.g., co -planning lessons, leading workshops,

and providing individual/group coaching on digital tools and AI integration) as outlined in the

responsibilities below.

The Technology and Digital Fluency Coach supports the Academic Leadership Team, IT

department, Data Protection Officer, infrastructure, systems, support services, and the seamless

integration of educational technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Some direct teaching

responsibilities are also part of the role.

Qualifications

● Experience: Significant experience in technology leadership within IB international or

European schools (6 -12 preferred).

● Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Education, or a related field;

Master’s degree preferred.

● Technical Knowledge: Strong technical knowledge of IT infrastructure, security, cloud

services (e.g., Google Workspace for Education), and educational software.

● Digital Leadership: Proven success in technology planning, project management, and staff

leadership. Demonstrated understanding of digital fluency components and strategies to

leverage digital tools effectively for enhanced middle -level leadership capacity.

● Valued Experience: Experience in teaching within the IB Programme, technology

integration, or digital learning leadership is highly valued. Position Responsibilities

I. Strategic Leadership and Digital Fluency

● Technology Strategy: Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive,

long -term technology strategy that supports the school’s educational and operational

objectives, with a core focus on AI and Digital Fluency .

● Digital Fluency Integration: Drive initiatives to integrate the components of digital fluency

(literacy, citizenship, tools, security, and devices) into the curriculum and leadership

practice, enabling middle -level leaders to effectively fulfill their roles.

● Ethical Digital Citizenship: Cultivate a leadership disposition focused on ethical online

behavior and positive digital footprints across the school community. Collaborate with

counselors and library teams on media literacy, AI ethics, and cybersecurity sessions, and

assist with digital policy implementation.

● Innovation & AI Integration: Provide leadership and oversight for major technology

projects, AI -integration , 1:1 device programs, and system upgrades as needed. Research,

evaluate, and recommend innovative technologies and practices that advance educational

goals.

II. Educational Technology and Data Management

● Instructional Support: Collaborate with the EY/Junior School Technology Integrator and

academic leaders to integrate technology effectively into teaching and learning. This

includes co -planning lessons incorporating coding, robotics, VR/AR, and AI, and modeling

tech -infused str ategies.

● Teaching & Learning: Support faculty and students in using digital tools to foster creativity,

collaboration, and innovation. Help design alternative assessments (e.g., simulations,

gamification) and implement adaptive learning tools.

● Data Systems: Oversee academic and operational data systems such as Managebac and

Google Classrooms ensuring data integrity and effective use to support decision -making.

III. Leadership and Professional Development

● Leadership: Guide, support, and mentor the ISH community to foster a collaborative and

purpose -driven team culture.

● Professional Learning: Develop and implement professional development opportunities for

both the IT Department and the wider school community, promoting effective and

informed use of digital tools and systems. This training will focus on the knowledge, skills,

and understanding to seamlessly integrate AI and digital fluency into leadership practice. IV. Systems and Compliance

● Compliance & Security: Educate and enforce data security, privacy, and acceptable use

policies to safeguard digital assets and ensure compliance with relevant regulations (e.g.,

European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation ( GDPR) regulations).

● Technical Competence: Demonstrate technical competence in managing a mixed

environment that includes Mac OS, iOS, Windows, and Mobile Device Management (MDM)

systems.

Terms of Employment:

• Starting date is 1 August 2026

• The position is initially limited until 31 July 2028, with an option for a permanent position

thereafter

• The position is a full -time position
