Der Deutsche Olympische Sportbund (DOSB) is the umbrella organization of German sports and unites more than 27 million memberships in almost 90,000 sports clubs and 101 member organizations. Founded on May 20, 2006, through the merger of the German Sports Federation and the National Olympic Committee for Germany, the DOSB stands for performance, health, joy of life, and value transmission[5].

The current president of the DOSB is Thomas Weikert, and the patron is the German Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier[5].
