The Berufsverband Information Bibliothek e.V. (BIB) is a central interest group and the most important professional representation for employees in the library and information sector in Germany. The association was formed in 2000 through the merger of the Verein der Bibliothekare und Assistenten (vba) with the Verein der Diplom-Bibliothekare an wissenschaftlichen Bibliotheken (VdDB) and currently has around 5,200 members[5][3].
The main task of the BIB is to represent the professional, social and cultural interests of its members. The most important offers include extensive further education and training programs, which are continuously adapted to the requirements of digital change in the library and information sector.
