The Caritas-Verein Altenoythe e.V. is an established social organization that has been committed to the comprehensive support and inclusion of people with disabilities since 1967[2]. The company has developed from its humble beginnings with only 13 children into a large, differentiated institution and now cares for people in all phases of life[2].
The association's mission statement, formulated by the thought "Einfach Mensch sein", is based on the conviction that every person has a right to personal development and social participation[4][5]. The organization is committed to promoting inclusion in accordance with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities[2][5]. The mission is to accompany people with disabilities as equal members of society and to enable them to live as independently and self-determined as possible[4].
The association offers over 60 facilities in the Cloppenburg district in the following areas[5]:
The work and production area includes specialized departments with high quality standards[1]. The Hygieneabteilung offers packaging services for food, medical products and medicines[1]. The Wäscherei provides all-round services for the catering industry and private customers[1]. In addition, there are specialized areas such as Näherei und Textildruck, a Kreativabteilung for handmade products and Garten- und Landschaftspflegedienstleistungen[1].
The company employs a total of around 800 employees and over 300 volunteers[4]. The association operates with two subsidiaries[2]: the Inklusionsunternehmen LMG gGmbH with a focus on metal processing and the Dienstleistungsunternehmen CVAD GmbH for industry, logistics and plant maintenance[3].
A key feature is the employment of people with and without disabilities in regular employment relationships[3]. The profit generated is paid directly to employees with disabilities as wages and bonuses[1].
The association has been working with a continuously developed quality management system since the 1990s[1]. The company is ISO 9001-2016 certified, recognized as a VDE testing center and has certified areas for the medical industry[1].
Sustainability is a core principle of the organization's work[4]. The association relies on economical and effective use of resources to create a sustainable foundation for long-term support[4]. The careful management of finances, infrastructure and materials enables the association to offer high-quality assistance to many people in the long term[4].
The Caritas-Verein Altenoythe embodies a social enterprise that combines economic efficiency with social responsibility, making it a model for inclusive work and social participation[1][2][4].
