DB RegioNetz Verkehrs GmbH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of DB Regio AG and has been operating attractive local rail passenger transport in rural areas of Germany since 2002.[2][3] As a flexible, innovative and likeable railway in the region, the company connects Bayern, Baden-Württemberg, Hessen, Thüringen and Sachsen with five classic regional networks that include transport, infrastructure, workshops and, in some cases, sales.[1][10]
The core business includes integrated local rail passenger transport in regional networks, such as the Thuringian Mountain Railway with a route network of 29 kilometers and 0.4 million train kilometers per year.[1] DB RegioNetz operates an extensive route network of nationwide, supplemented by 13 tunnels, 1,005 bridges, 667 switches, 675 main signals, 62 signal boxes and 273 traffic stations.[6] The sister company with around 600 employees ensures the non-discriminatory provision, maintenance and modernization of the leased infrastructure.[5][6] Short decision-making processes and strong local roots enable efficient, customer-focused mobility.[1]
The mission of DB RegioNetz is: "We are the railway in the region - flexible, innovative, likeable."[1][3][10] The company prioritizes regional responsibility, integrated transport and proximity to people. Under the leadership of the managing directors Cornelia Würtz (Chairwoman), Gudrun Elser and Holger Schwarz, flexibility is a priority in order to keep rural regions worth living in.[2]
DB RegioNetz is committed to sustainable value creation along the entire supply chain. With the implementation of the Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetzes (LkSG) (Supply Chain Due Diligence Act), the company ensures respectful treatment of people and the environment - not only in Germany, but worldwide.[8] Suppliers are expected to maintain a comparably high standard in order to secure reliable partnerships. Investments in infrastructure improvements contribute to the long-term climate friendliness of rail transport.[5]
DB RegioNetz embodies regional mobility at the highest level: reliable, future-oriented and closely rooted in the needs of the local people. With innovative solutions, it strengthens rural areas and promotes sustainable means of transport.[1][3]
