The Deutsche Stiftung für Internationale Rechtliche Zusammenarbeit e.V. (IRZ) was founded in May 1992 at the initiative of the then Federal Minister of Justice, Klaus Kinkel. As a registered non-profit association based in Bonn with an additional office in Berlin, the IRZ focuses on supporting states in the development of rule of law and market-oriented structures.
The main mission of the IRZ is to support partner countries in their legal and judicial reform projects. The focus is on the further development of rule of law and market-oriented structures as well as the alignment of national law with EU law. The IRZ is committed to the realization of:

The IRZ works on behalf of the German federal government and is primarily funded by budgetary resources from the Federal Ministry of Justice and through project funding from the Federal Foreign Office. In addition, the IRZ carries out projects on behalf of the European Union, particularly within the framework of neighborhood and accession policy.
The IRZ has extensive expertise through its committees, the general assembly, and the board of trustees, which includes personalities from politics, business, administration, science, trade unions, and non-governmental organizations. In addition, the IRZ can draw on numerous experienced professionals from various legal fields.
