The DLRG Landesverband Schleswig-Holstein e.V. has been a reliable partner for safety in and around the water in the "Land between the Seas" for over 90 years. As part of the world's largest water rescue organization, around 35,000 members volunteer in over 100 local groups to ensure the safety of the population and guests of Schleswig-Holstein.
The core tasks of the DLRG Landesverband include raising awareness of dangers in and around the water, training swimmers and lifeguards, and carrying out water rescue services. Every summer, around 3,500 lifeguards ensure safe bathing at the coasts and inland waters. In addition, the DLRG Landesverband is involved in disaster control, securing water sports events and youth work.
A special focus is on swimming lessons to reduce the number of drowning incidents. The "Schwimm-Mobil" (Swimming Mobile) is an innovative project to offer swimming courses even in places without suitable infrastructure. In addition, special courses on rescue skills are offered for teachers to increase safety in school sports.
The DLRG Landesverband Schleswig-Holstein e.V. offers its members a variety of opportunities for training and further education. A wide range of seminars and courses enables volunteers to constantly expand their skills and knowledge and prepare for their responsible tasks.
The DLRG Youth Schleswig-Holstein plays an important role in the state association. It promotes youth work and offers children and young people meaningful leisure activities with a focus on water safety and team spirit.
In order to secure its diverse tasks in the long term, the DLRG Landesverband has founded the DLRG Stiftung Schleswig-Holstein. The foundation supports the work of the state association and its subdivisions, especially in the prevention of drowning.
