Dorfleben Walchensee gGmbH is a non-profit organization that has been strengthening social, cultural and educational life in the idyllic Walchensee since its foundation in 2009. In a time of increasing globalization, it offers residents the chance to rediscover their roots and cultivate a deep connection to the village community and surrounding nature.[1][2][5]
The story began with the dramatic rescue of the small private village school: When the "St. Anna Schulverband" announced its withdrawal in 2009, the citizens' and parents' initiative "Bunte Kuh" was formed. This resulted in the Dorfleben Walchensee gGmbH, which, in close cooperation with the government of Upper Bavaria, secured not only the school but also its state recognition. In 2010, the organization also took over the management of the kindergarten from the parish.[2]
The main mission is to offer early childhood education and schooling from a single source, with a focus on individual, personal care and a holistic, musically influenced pedagogical approach. This is intended to attract young families and revitalize the village. In addition, the gGmbH cultivates the village community, promotes solidarity and extends its commitment to all age groups.[2][5]
With 20–49 employees, including managers such as Christine Funk (KiGa) and Armin Ebersberger (Managing Director), the team focuses on appreciative encounters and diversity.[1][4]
Values such as community, connection to nature and musical education are at the center. The organization creates places where people can "experience and live community in a variety of ways". It emphasizes personal development, cultural diversity and inclusion - from jazz to classical music, from workshops to everyday support.[2][4][5]
As a non-profit GmbH, Dorfleben Walchensee pursues exclusively non-profit and charitable purposes in accordance with tax regulations, with a focus on long-term village development.[7] Initiatives strengthen regional identity, support young families and integrate senior citizens to counteract emigration. The "House of Encounter" serves as a sustainable hub for social cohesion. Donations and membership fees finance projects, as shown transparently in annual reports.[2][6] The work preserves natural habitats and cultural heritage at Walchensee.
Dorfleben Walchensee embodies lively village life: It combines education, culture and help - a model for sustainable rural development that makes hearts beat faster.[2][5]
