Dorfleben Walchensee is a non-profit GmbH dedicated to the holistic education, upbringing and support of the village community[3][4]. The company pursues exclusively non-profit and charitable purposes and has set itself the goal of offering the residents of its village the opportunity to rediscover their roots in an increasingly globalized world[1][3].
The company operates a state-recognized village school, which currently enables 41 children from Walchensee and surrounding communities to learn and live in an idyllic environment[2]. The school is characterized by an innovative school concept that places a musical focus and offers seamless optional afternoon care[2].
In addition to the school, Dorfleben Walchensee operates a kindergarten, with which there is a close network[2]. This enables continuous care from early childhood education to school education - all from a single source[3].
However, the company's activities extend far beyond school and kindergarten. Dorfleben Walchensee is heavily involved in promoting the social and cultural life of the village[3]. The offer includes concerts, dance courses, making music in choirs and orchestras, as well as practical services such as doctor and shopping trips or meals on wheels[3]. With the "Haus der Begegnung" (House of Encounter), the company has created a central place where all residents of Walchensee can experience community in a variety of ways[3].
The core mission of Dorfleben Walchensee lies in cultivating the village community and preserving a sense of connection with the local community and the surrounding nature[3]. The holistic, musically influenced pedagogical approach forms the foundation of all activities[3]. The individual and personal care of the children is the focus[3].
The company works closely with local clubs and, through its diverse offerings, creates incentives for young families to settle in Walchensee[3]. Particularly noteworthy is the focus on appreciation and meaningful encounters, which are lived daily throughout the facility[5].
Dorfleben Walchensee was founded in 2009 when the small private village school was threatened with closure[3]. A citizens' and parents' initiative, the "Bunte Kuh" (Colorful Cow), campaigned for the preservation of the school and founded the "Dorfleben Walchensee gemeinnĂĽtzige GmbH" as the legal entity[3]. In close cooperation with the government of Upper Bavaria, it was not only possible to save the village school, but also to maintain its state recognition[3].
In 2010, Dorfleben Walchensee also took over the management of the parish's kindergarten, thus creating the basis for an integrated educational landscape[3].
The company employs between 20 and 49 people[1] and is managed by an experienced management team[4]. The team consists of pedagogical specialists, musicians, language promoters and other specialists who are committed to the children and the village community with great personal dedication[5].
Dorfleben Walchensee is far more than just a school - it is a holistic education and community initiative that supports children, families, seniors and all residents of the village in their development. With its holistic, musically influenced approach and its strong community focus, the company embodies a model of education that combines learning with life and thus forms a valuable counterpoint to globalization trends.
