The Familienzentrum Flohkiste e.V. in Mönchengladbach is a parent initiative that operates a daycare center with three groups for children aged 0 to 6 years. The facility, located on the edge of the Volksgarten, offers a spacious outdoor area and a natural environment.
The Flohkiste sees itself as more than just a childcare facility. It is a place where children are accompanied and supported on their way to becoming self-determined and responsible individuals. The pedagogical work is based on three pillars: nature, movement and healthy nutrition.
As a family center, the Flohkiste also offers various services for families in addition to childcare, including parenting counseling in cooperation with the city of Mönchengladbach and a parent-child group ("Miniflöhe"). The aim is to support families in their everyday lives and to create a place for exchange and encounter.
Parental involvement is an important part of the Flohkiste. As a parent initiative, they live and grow through the commitment of their members. Parents actively participate in the life of the family center and get involved in a variety of ways, for example by completing parental hours to maintain the facility.
The Flohkiste is affiliated with the German Paritätische Wohlfahrtsverband (DPWV) and values close cooperation between professionals and parents. The pedagogical concept is developed jointly with parents and professionals.
The Flohkiste team consists of motivated and dedicated professionals who enjoy promoting and supporting children in their development. They value a pleasant working atmosphere and offer regular training and further education.
