The Forscherstation Klaus-Tschira-Kompetenzzentrum für frühe naturwissenschaftliche Bildung gGmbH is dedicated to promoting science education for children in daycare, kindergarten, after-school care, and primary school. Its goal is to awaken and maintain children's natural enthusiasm for phenomena such as rainbows, dandelion seeds, or the starry sky.
To achieve this goal, the Forscherstation offers in-service training for pedagogical specialists and teachers. These training courses not only impart theoretical knowledge, but also practical experimentation ideas and suggestions that can be directly integrated into everyday pedagogical practice. The Forscherstation also provides practical materials that can be borrowed or downloaded to facilitate the implementation of science projects.
Another focus of the Forscherstation is practice-oriented research. Insights are gained through in-house research projects that contribute to the further development of early science education and continuously improve the quality of the training courses offered. The research projects combine theoretical and empirical work with practice and deal with central issues of empirical educational research and subject-didactic research in the natural sciences. The results are regularly presented at specialist conferences and published in specialist journals to promote scientific dialogue.
The Forscherstation attaches great importance to the quality of its offers. Systematic evaluation and comprehensive monitoring ensure that the training courses are effective and meet the needs of pedagogical specialists and teachers. The results of the evaluations are directly incorporated into the further development of the offers to ensure continuous improvement.
The Forscherstation awards an annual plaque to institutions that are particularly committed to early science education. This award recognizes the commitment of the institutions and is intended to encourage others to also commit to promoting science education.
The Forscherstation sees itself as a competence center for early science education and offers a wide range of services to support pedagogical specialists and teachers in their work. In addition to the training courses and practical materials, these include events such as "Explore Science" and "Forsch mit!", which offer children and young people the opportunity to playfully engage with scientific topics.
