The Kinderheim Erwin Steffen GmbH is a family-run provider of independent child and youth welfare with over 50 years of experience. Founded in 1970, the company is dedicated to creating a temporary family environment for children and young people.
The company operates various residential groups in Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg, which cater to different age groups and needs. These include groups for toddlers ("Die Kleinen"), boys' groups ("Strandgut"), girls' groups (Mädchengruppe Molfsee) as well as shared apartments for adolescents and young adults ("Die Großen"). The residential groups are often organized in a network to give siblings the opportunity to live close to each other, even if they cannot be accommodated in the same group for pedagogical reasons.
The mission of the Kinderheim Erwin Steffen is to provide children and young people with a loving and professional temporary home. The guiding principle "Mit den Kindern leben" underscores the claim to closely accompany the children in everyday life and in their development steps. Respect, affection, appreciation, security, comfort and structure form the foundation of the corporate culture.
The company combines many years of experience with modern quality standards and offers an environment in which children and young people feel comfortable, experience security and can discover their individual strengths and talents. In addition to care in the residential groups, the offer also includes pedagogical-therapeutic additional offers by own specialists, such as solution-oriented counseling, trauma pedagogy, climbing therapy and animal-assisted measures. An own leisure center, the "KierstKraftClub", offers a variety of group-wide leisure activities and projects.
The Kinderheim Erwin Steffen GmbH attaches importance to participation and child protection, which is reflected in internal training courses and group speaker meetings. The aim is to give children and young people a temporary home in which they feel safe and secure and can shape their future in a positive way.
