KommWis GmbH, founded in 2000, is an established municipal IT service provider and a subsidiary of the municipal umbrella organizations in Rhineland-Palatinate. With over 20 years of experience and more than 90 employees, KommWis serves over 200 municipal customers.

KommWis offers a wide range of IT services for municipal administrations in Rhineland-Palatinate. These include the support of state-wide IT procedures in areas such as registration, elections, civil status matters, vehicle registration and trade. In addition, KommWis is involved in the development and introduction of new services in the field of E-Government to advance the digitalization of public administration.

• Meldewesen: Support of the IT procedures of the registration authorities, including automated retrievals and group information.
• Wahlen: Support of the election offices with IT solutions.
• Personenstandswesen: Support of the IT procedures of the registry offices.
• Kfz-Zulassungswesen: IT support for the vehicle registration offices.
• Gewerbe: IT solutions for trade offices.
• DMS (Dokumentenmanagementsysteme): Solutions for digital document management.
• Kommunalnetz: Provision and support of the Kommunalnetz Rheinland-Pfalz, an exclusive wide area network for municipal and state IT applications.
• DVDV (Deutsches Verwaltungsdiensteverzeichnis): KommWis takes on the role of the DVDV-maintaining body for municipal users in Rhineland-Palatinate.
• Kommunales Projektbüro OZG: Support for the implementation of the Online Access Act (OZG).

KommWis sees itself as a partner of the municipalities and offers comprehensive support in the daily work with the services offered. A first-level support is available to receive and process inquiries. For more complex problems, the forwarding to the second-level support takes place, which is provided by specialized departments.
