editThe Landeskriminalamt North Rhine-Westphalia (LKA NRW) is the central office of the NRW police for combating crime. As a state supreme authority subordinate to the Ministry of the Interior of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the LKA NRW supports the Ministry and the police authorities in the fight against crime, in crime prevention and law enforcement.
The LKA NRW performs a variety of tasks, including the investigation and prosecution of serious crime, crime prevention, criminal technology, state security and research. It carries out forensic and identification investigations, prepares expert opinions in criminal proceedings and collects and evaluates information and documents that are significant for the prevention and prosecution of criminal offenses.
A particular focus is on combating cybercrime. The LKA NRW operates the Cybercrime Competence Center (CCCC), which deals with combating cybercrime and protects companies and citizens from attacks from the network.
The LKA NRW is strongly involved in crime prevention. It informs the public about current scams and gives tips on how to protect themselves from crime. For this purpose, it operates the Digital Advice and Prevention Center in Cologne, which advises citizens, institutions and companies.
The LKA NRW is a diverse and colorful employer. Around 1,900 people work here in a wide variety of areas, from criminal investigators to IT experts and administrative staff. The LKA NRW offers its employees stable and long-term prospects, flexible working hours and a wide range of tasks.
