MIO42 GmbH

The mio42 GmbH is an innovative company dedicated to the development of Medical Information Objects (MIOs). In close cooperation with the Kassenärztliche Bundesvereinigung (KBV), mio42 specifies and develops standards for the cross-system exchange of health and patient data.

The goal of mio42 is to simplify and improve data exchange in the healthcare sector. The developed MIOs enable medical practices, hospitals, laboratories and other actors in the healthcare sector to exchange, process and research relevant patient data across software boundaries. This happens in the context of the electronic patient record (ePA).

The MIOs from mio42 are structured like spheres: At the core is the medical information, surrounded by a coding layer that translates the information into unique codes. An XML/FHIR® shell enables the exchange of information between different systems.

To cope with these complex tasks, mio42 relies on interdisciplinary teams that analyze medical content, create information models, encode information and specify it in FHIR®.

mio42 values transparency and the participation of the MIO community. The company's mission is to turn analog and unstructured data into digital and structured information. In doing so, mio42 defines the basics for content of the electronic patient record, such as vaccination card, maternity record, dental bonus booklet or child health booklet.
