The Montessori-Förderverein Rosenheim/Rohrdorf e.V., founded in 1992 by dedicated parents, is the sponsor of three non-profit Montessori institutions in Rohrdorf with around 430 childcare places: a Naturkindergarten, a Grund- und Mittelschule and a Fachoberschule up to the university of applied sciences entrance qualification. In addition, the association operates a Repaircafé, which promotes the sustainable use of resources.[2][6][8]
The facilities include the Montessori-Naturkindergarten Rohrdorf, which supports children in a nature-oriented environment and teaches practical life skills such as cooking, chopping wood or making fire. The ranges from elementary school to upper school (grades 1–12) and is based on the Bavarian curriculum, without pressure to get good grades in the lower grades. Learning content in subjects such as German, mathematics, English, art, music and science are developed through free work, presentations, projects and material-based explorations. In the upper school, learning camps, mock exams and coaching prepare students for state exams. A total of around 390 students are individually supported by around 80 employees, including 50 educators.[1][3][4][6][9]
True to Maria Montessori's motto "Help me to do it myself!", the focus is on promoting independence, personal responsibility and personal development. The pedagogy respects the inner blueprint of each child, creates a prepared environment with development materials and mindful interaction. Values such as trust, courtesy, tolerance and mutual appreciation characterize the interaction between educators, students, parents and the board. The pedagogical mission statement, developed by all those involved, emphasizes joy in learning, social skills, self-confidence and mindfulness towards nature and culture. Co-constructive learning encourages asking questions, exchanging perspectives and finding solutions together.[1][3][4][7]
Sustainability is an integral part: The Montessori-Naturkindergarten combines cosmic education with nature pedagogy to teach children to appreciate the environment - "only then can they protect nature". Practical exercises strengthen awareness of resources. The Repaircafé, every 3rd Saturday of the month, promotes sustainable living together through repairs and campaigns. The association with over 250 members - parents, professionals and friends of the Montessori idea - finances purchases and a hardship fund for needy families from contributions.[2][4][5][6][8]
With around 250 committed members, the association forms a Montessori family that continuously develops its offerings. An Elternakademie offers lectures for support. This creates a school that optimally prepares students for professional and adult life.[1][10]
