The Museumspädagogisches Zentrum (MPZ) in Munich is an innovative institution of the Free State of Bavaria and the state capital Munich, dedicated to the communication of culture, education, and knowledge in museums and urban spaces.
The mission of the MPZ is to make the museum visit a diverse and enriching experience. It focuses on the joy of discovery, interdisciplinary impulses, appreciation and participation of all people, as well as creative design spaces and perspective shifts. Target group orientation and customer service are further central values of the MPZ[2].
The MPZ is strongly committed to promoting education for sustainable development (BNE). It integrates the UN Sustainable Development Goals into its educational offerings and promotes learning about ecological, economic, and social aspects. Through object-oriented and visual learning, children, adolescents, and adults are to acquire skills and knowledge for sustainable action. The MPZ is recognized in the UNESCO program BNE 2030 and works in various educational areas, from early childhood education to further education and non-formal education[5].
