The Sächsische Landesstiftung Natur und Umwelt (LaNU) is a foundation under public law based in Dresden, founded in 1992 by the Free State of Saxony. The foundation is exclusively non-profit and focuses on the protection, preservation, and care of nature and landscape as the natural basis of all life.
The main mission of LaNU is to promote general understanding of the concerns of nature and environmental protection in science, education, and the public in the Free State of Saxony. The foundation is committed to the preservation and design of the natural environment, based on the principles of sustainability and non-profit.
LaNU is led by the Board of Trustees and the Foundation Director (Executive Board). The Board of Trustees consists of high-ranking representatives of the Free State of Saxony, including the State Ministers for Energy, Climate Protection, Environment and Agriculture, Finance, and Culture, as well as members of the Saxon Parliament and representatives of recognized nature conservation associations[2].
LaNU works closely with various networks and cooperation partners to effectively pursue its goals and protect and preserve the natural environment in Saxony. Through its diverse projects and initiatives, LaNU makes a significant contribution to the preservation of natural resources and the promotion of sustainable development in the region.
