About Sehbehinderten- und Blindenzentrum Südbayern
editThe Sehbehinderten- und Blindenzentrum Südbayern (SBZ) is a competence center that has been dedicated to the education, promotion, counseling and care of visually impaired and blind children, adolescents and adults for over a century. Based on a long tradition in the education and care of visually impaired people, the SBZ offers a comprehensive range of services to enable people with special needs to lead a fulfilling and self-determined life.
The SBZ includes the Edith-Stein-Schulen (special education center and secondary school), which offer an inclusive learning environment in which students with and without special educational needs are taught together. The special education center offers a school preparatory facility (SVE) for children from 3 years, a primary school and a secondary school. The Edith-Stein-Realschule with the "School Profile Inclusion" enables visually impaired and blind children and adolescents to acquire a secondary school diploma. A special focus is on individual support and the imparting of skills that enable responsible and respectful action.
In addition to school education, the SBZ offers a wide range of housing and care services, including a therapeutic boarding school, a therapeutic day care center, an integrative after-school care center and a day nursery. These facilities create their own little world in which everyone is there for each other and in which the children and young people can feel comfortable. Specialist services such as orientation and mobility, practical life skills, career guidance, psychology and special education complement the offer and support the holistic development of the people being cared for.
The SBZ also offers comprehensive consulting services, including the Mobile Special Education Service (MSD) and the Mobile Special Education Assistance (MSH), early intervention and a CVI (Cerebral Visual Impairment) counseling center. These services are aimed at children, adolescents, parents, educators and teachers and offer support with questions relating to visual impairment and blindness.
The SBZ sees itself as a community in which togetherness and mutual support are lived. The teams work together across disciplines and exchange information regularly. There are many opportunities for joint activities, such as festivals, events, sports and leisure activities.
The SBZ is an attractive employer that offers its employees a fulfilling working environment, excellent facilities, family friendliness and excellent training opportunities. Remuneration is based on AVR-Caritas and there are numerous benefits such as company pension schemes, welfare insurance and time off in lieu.
The SBZ looks back on a long history that began in 1889 with the founding of the Blindenanstalt in Augsburg. The center has been based in Unterschleißheim since 1983 and has continued to develop. The three-circle symbol of the SBZ symbolizes: Each of us (human) opens up (eye) to the other (cross). The guiding goals of the work are community, performance, independence and joy.
The SBZ works together with strong and competent partners from the fields of education, social services, vocational preparation, medicine, technical support and business. The expertise and services of the SBZ are available to a wide audience.
